Who are you?
An unremarkable twenty-something bloke who lives somewhere non-specific in the north of England, scraping a living in a boring office job and entertaining unfeasible dreams of escape. In the meantime, I keep myself entertained with writing and drawing and watching TV, and going online and talking at great length about people's bottoms. And occasionally other more cerebral things too, but a lot of it is really just bottoms.
What's this journal about?
Sort of a hodge-podge of things related to my favourite TV programmes, books and films, mixed in with links to interesting things I've found, collections of pretty pictures, memes, silliness, the occasional bit of grumbling - that sort of thing. Almost everything's unlocked. Feel free to friend me if you want to keep tabs on what I'm up to! I don't automatically friend back, but I'm always happy to chat and meet new people.
Any fandoms, then?
Plenty! My primary fandom is and probably always will be Band of Brothers, which I firmly believe to be the best TV show ever made. The other fandom I'm most active in is, possibly predictably, The Pacific. Other war-related TV shows I am very enthusiastic about are M*A*S*H and Changi. (You could possibly argue that 20th-century military history in general is my fandom, but that sounds a bit dismissive.)
Other media I love include DC Comics, Doctor Who, Mad Men, Rome, Life on Mars, Blackadder, Horrible Histories, Star Trek (TOS, TNG and the 2009 reboot), Discworld, Due South, the films of Quentin Tarantino, the original radio version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, pretty much anything involving Charlie Brooker, and Asterix comics.
What kind of things do you do in fandom?
Anything that tickles my fancy. I write fanfiction on occasion (mostly slash, mostly a bit silly, but I love het and gen as well). I do the odd bit of fanart. I make fanmixes, once in a blue moon, and I occasionally try to do graphics, though I probably shouldn't. I lurk, I comment, I do a lot of flailing around and getting overexcited about things nobody else really cares about. You know. The usual.
And one more question - what does 'skew-whiff' even mean?
It's a turn of phrase. It's a slightly more eccentric way of saying 'askew'; it's pretty commonplace in British English but apparently not so elsewhere, given how many times I've been asked about it. Oh well.
